TLHD - Turkish Landing Helicopter Dock
TLHD is an amphibious assault ship (LHD) of the Turkish Navy that can also be named as a light aircraft carrier. The vessel is intended to meet the various needs and requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces, such as sustaining long-endurance, long-distance military combat or humanitarian relief operations; while acting as a command center and flagship for the Turkish Navy. TLHD design is based on Navantia’s designed Spanish ship SPS Juan Carlos with some modifications required by Turkish Navy. All of the ship's weapons system together with the combat system integration and CMS is procured by Turkish firms Aselsan and Havelsan. She will be capable of operating the F-35B STOVL stealth multirole combat aircraft. She will be in service of Turkish Navy in 2021.
